This week, we spent the bulk of our weekly community call reviewing download numbers and overall sentiment across our 17 Season 2 episodes.
Season 2 retro
Overall, we were really happy with the way Season 2 turned out. We had one of the most diverse guest rosters out of any podcast season I’ve ever hosted previously. This was extremely important to us as diversity is one of our three core values.
Out of 19 guests on Season 2, we had:
- 10 women (53%)
- 8 people of color (42%)
- 14 minorities (74%)
This is a stark increase from Season 1, when we had 12 guests that included:
- 6 women (50%)
- 1 person of color (8%)
- 6 minorities (50%)
Diving deeper into the download numbers for each episode, we made some additional observations:
- Scheduling
- Our Thursday episodes performed better than our Tuesday episodes. We think this is perhaps because listeners had more time to consume the Thursday episodes
- Our June episodes performed better than our July episodes. We think this is perhaps because the overall sentiment of the space has been on a decline since we entered into a bear market, and we hit an all time low in July
- Topics
- Topics more aligned with Rehash values performed better
- Our audience consists of primarily web3 native and web3 curious folks who are more interested in learning than speculation
- The more concise and catchy titles received more downloads
Season 3 nominations
On Wednesday of this week, we kicked off guest nominations for Season 3 of the podcast.
Who is eligible to participate in the nomination process?
Anyone who holds a Rehash NFT is eligible to participate in the Season 3 nomination process. If you do not yet hold a Rehash NFT and would like to participate, you can purchase one here.
How do I nominate a guest?
Nominating a guest is easy. All you have to do is:
- Go to our nomination page on Clarity here.
- Connect your wallet (make sure it’s connect to the wallet where you hold your Rehash NFT.
- Follow the instructions on the page.
Please note that anyone will be able to view the link above, but only token holders will be able to edit the page.
How many guests can I nominate?
There is no limit to the number of guests you can nominate.
Can I nominate guests who have already appeared on the podcast in past seasons?
Yes.
When’s the deadline for nominating guests?
The deadline for nominating guests is Wednesday, August 10th at 10am PT / 1pm ET.
Why are you using Clarity?
Originally, we wanted to use JokeDAO for our entire Season 3 guest nomination and voting process. However, JokeDAO does not (yet) allow us to structure the contest in the way in which we set up governance for Rehash - namely that all NFT holders are eligible to submit proposals (e.g. nominate guests) but only a subset of those NFT holders are eligible to vote on those proposals (e.g. vote on guests).
We wanted a solution that would be cheap and transparent. We thought about using Typeform, which would be cheap but not transparent. We thought about setting up two separate JokeDAO contests, which would be transparent but not cheap. Clarity offered us the best of both worlds - the ability to token gate access, maintain full transparency both within and outside of the DAO, and do it all for free.

Voting and sponsorships!
On Wednesday, August 10th at 10am PT, we will kick off our voting process for Season 3 of the podcast on JokeDAO.
At that time, all holders of Podcaster NFTs, Queen of the Pod NFTs, Podcast Guest NFTs, or blue Collector NFTs will have received a token airdrop that allows them to vote in the contest.
Each airdrop will consist of 16 voting tokens (corresponding with the 16 episodes that will comprise Season 3 of the podcast). Token holders can decide to use their tokens in whichever way they choose (i.e. placing all 16 votes on one guest or dispersing their 16 votes on 16 different guests). We’re excited to see how this experiment plays out!
Another new experiment we’re running for Season 3 is accepting podcast sponsorships for the first time! Our sponsorships come with a twist - we’ll be custom writing and recording each sponsorship ad in a creative and engaging way so that listeners don’t simply fast forward through them but will actually listen to them! Stay tuned for more details on this early next week. 😊
